and Archaic periods

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
LSOT25 Now this is a very wicked looking Otero Co., NM 60.00

weapon. A semi-translucent chalcedony

  Guadalupe arrowhead (Neff Variety)
having a yellow and tan cast. It was made
with an outer layer of white cortex
remaining on side B, which is quite unusual.
The tip was anciently clipped, and an ear is
missing from one of the lower most barbs.
Still a nice looking piece for the price. Stermer COA

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
LSOT26 A beautiful and well made purple Otero Co., NM 60.00

fossiliferous chert Tularosa corner-

  notched arrowhead. It's well flaked
on both sides and has an irregular
shaped base and a very slight spider
bite to the tip. Certainly one which
would add color to any collection. Stermer COA

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
LSOT27 A fairly thin and glossy mottled pink,  Otero Co., NM 75.00

purple, white and light gray variegated

  chert Tularosa corner-notched
arrowhead having an ancient clip to
one corner of the base as well as to
one tang, which certainly didn't put this
baby out of service. It's a nice looker ! Stermer COA

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
LSOT28 A most attractive mottled light . Otero Co., NM 75.00

brown jasper Guadalupe arrowhead

This one looks like a wicked war
point to me, and with this style and
  form, penetration would definitely
have been deep and deadly.   11/13
An overall attractive piece. Stermer COA ON-HOLD

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
LSOT29 A tan, light gray and brick-red Found in 75.00

banded chert Guadalupe

El Paso Co., TX
arrowhead. It has an ancient clip to
one barb and a slight stack above
the hafting area on side A. Stermer COA

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
LSOT30 A mottled brownish-gray chert San  Otero Co., NM 75.00

Pedro dart point in excellent condition.

Side A has been thoroughly pressure-
flaked, while side B retains alot of the
  first stage percussion flaking marks
  with secondary pressure flaking mostly
around the edges and base. A nice
"classic" looking arrowhead. Stermer COA

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
LSOT31 A very well formed and quite striking Otero Co., NM 95.00

(for a basalt item, as basalt was

impossible to work with any detail)
  black basalt Cortaro arrowhead. Fairly
well flaked with no noticeable damage
and showing signs of desert polish. Stermer COA

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
LSOT32 Oooo... nice one ! A beautiful mottled Found in 120.00

purplish-pink chert Guadalupe

El Paso Co., Texas
  arrowhead, thoroughly flaked on both
sides and having the neatest micro
  edge serrations. The ancient knapper
got a little bit careless while trimming
one corner of the bulb stem, which
made the bulb slightly out of symmetry.   10/3
Still a great, and whole attractive piece Stermer COA ON-HOLD

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
LSOT33 A gorgeous, semi-translucent   Otero Co., NM 60.00

chalcedony San Pedro arrowhead.

It's on the sturdy side with thorough
flaking to a median ridge on both
faces. It has a very tiny flea bite to
the tip and a nick to one corner of
the convex base. Still a most
attractive and well worked piece. Stermer COA

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
LSOT34 A paper-thin white chert Toyah   Found in 50.00

arrowhead. Now, this one HAD to be

Western Texas
thoroughly flaked to get to be this thin,
but heavy, heavy desert polish has made
the flaking patterns quite subdued. Still a
very nice and intact artifact. Stermer COA

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
LSOT35 A VERY nice, paper-thin mottled Found in 175.00

light brown jasper Toyah arrowhead

Western Texas
  showing superior and thorough flaking
to both sides. A very delicate piece
made by a master knapper. If I had
  examined this one more closely,
sooner, it would have gone on the
Gem Points page... it's that nice ! Stermer COA

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
LSOT36 A very thin and highly attractive tan and Found in 150.00

red silicified wood Bull Creek

southeastern Utah
arrowhead. This one's well made with
thorough pressure flaking on side A,
  whereas side B retains mostly
percussion flaking scars from the stage
where the form was first "roughed-out"
A nice, colorful and delicate little item. Stermer COA

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
LSOT37 I don't know why, but this one just Otero Co., NM 30.00

makes me laugh, it has a lot of features

to it, which weren't obvious upon my
first casual glance. It's a small, sturdy
  purplish-pink banded chert Cortaro
dart point having some splotches of
orange. The banding runs in a circular-
diagonal fashion and is most noticeable
on side A. A nice little dart point. Stermer COA

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
LSOT38 A quite sturdy red and dark gray chert Otero Co., NM 50.00

Guadalupe arrowhead having sections

of clear agate at the base and on one
serration as well as a clear agate
vertical band running from just below
the tip down to the base, slightly to the
right side of the centerline. The material
itself appears to be difficult to work,
and the flaking patterns are not very
  sophisticated. (Junior knapper style, a
bit on the crude side) Stermer COA

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
LSOT39 A fairly thin, snow-white chert Otero Co., NM 60.00

Guadalupe arrowhead having an

interesting if not somewhat crude form.
The flaking patterns on this one aren't
very detailed, and it has ancient basal
damage. Still, kind of a pretty item. Stermer COA

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
LSOT41 A brick red chert Guadalupe Found near 60.00

arrowhead with WICKED

Alamogordo in
WICKED serrations ! Fairly thin Otero Co., NM
and thoroughly worked but with an
unfortunate snapped base, a nick to
one tang as well as a nick to the tip. Stermer COA

having dark blue-gray circular sections,

mostly in the center as well as a red vein

force from an impact fracture

BLOT5 A very attractive purple and pink  Found in 30.00

chert Edgewood arrowhead dating

Western Texas
to the Woodland era between
1,500 and 3,000 years old

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
BLOT9 A very nicely made, small white chalcedony Found in 24.00

Edgewood arrowhead from the Woodland

Western Texas
period dating back to 1,500 to 3,000 years
old. Everything's "right" about this piece, from
the patina and the surface, but it does have one
feature which I can't explain, namely what
appears to be sparse small dotted "flecks" of
red paint on one side. I can only surmise that
this one was setting on a shelf in someone's
garage, near an area where something was
being spray-painted. Has a slight flea bite to
one ear but still a good looking arrowhead.

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
LSOT2 An extremely thin purplish-pink and off-white Recovered in 26.00

chert Edwards dart point having a slight

Pecos Valley, TX
stack to side B, to the right of center above
the hafting area and covering 20% of the
surface area. Flaking patterns are decent but
it has a small spider bite to the tip. Dates
back to the Woodland to Mississippian
periods, between 1,000 and 2,000 years old

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
LSOT3 A very thin and small light gray chert  Recovered in 30.00

Maud arrowhead having good flaking

Pecos Valley, TX
patterns, excellent basal thinning and
very fine edge serrations. It appears to
have sustained some ancient damage
to the tip, which didn't put it out of
commission. Just a neat little, delicate
point from the Mississippian Period,
between 500 and 800 years old

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
LSOT5 A purple and mottled pink (heat-treated ?) Recovered in 30.00

chert Travis arrowhead thoroughly flaked

Pecos Valley, TX
with a nice hafting stop where the purple
section starts. An attractive point which
has been banged around a little bit in
ancient times. From the Mid-Archaic to
Woodland phases and dating between
1,000 and 5,500 years old. Would make a
nice addition to any "color" frame

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
LSOT6 An extremely thin and well made yellow chert Recovered in 50.00

Talco dart point, made on a flake with 75% of

Pecos Valley, TX
the original flake's surface remaining on side B,
which is pressure flaked substantially at the tip
and base, less so around the edges. Has a very
slight ancient impact fracture to the tip, which
was anciently re-worked to put this one back in
service. Dates to the Mississippian to Historic
phases between 500 and 800 years old.

Item: Type: Provenance: Price
LSOT7 A medium brown-gray chert Perdiz Recovered in 25.00

arrowhead made on a flake and retaining

Pecos Valley, TX
70% of the original flake's surface on side B.
Flaking is thorough and superior on side A
but this piece unfortunately lost the end of one
of it's tangs long ago. Still a very delicate and
interesting item dating to the Mississippian
period between 500 and 1,000 years old
